Mission Statement

To provide a better quality of life and promote health and wellness by providing adequate facilities, acres of parks, and various recreational and non-recreational programs that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to provide the citizens of Excelsior Springs with physical, recreational and cultural opportunities with the focus on families, seniors, and youth development while creating a healthy community through the various facilities, historical amenities and parks that the Parks and Recreation Department has to offer.


Historically Fun

Parks and Recreation Board

The Parks and Recreation Board is an Administrative Board to govern major operations of the Department. There are 9 Board members consisting of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and 5 other members. The Board meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the ES Community Center at 6:00 PM.

The Mission of the Corporation shall be to further advance and promote the activities and resources of the Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Department through education, awareness, conservation and preservation, which will positively impact the quality of life, health and well-being of Excelsior Springs residents and visitors.
